The Challenge
Cryogenic liquid transfer is one of the most safety-critical operations in industrial gas distribution. Operators must follow precise procedures while managing extreme temperatures, high pressures, and hazardous materials, leaving virtually no room for error. Traditional classroom sessions and on-the-job mentoring could not safely replicate these high-risk conditions or prepare operators for emergency scenarios.
As a global organization operating across multiple countries, Linde also faced the challenge of maintaining one consistent training standard while adapting to country-specific regulations, languages, and operational variations. The company required a scalable solution that could standardize competency worldwide without exposing trainees to live hazards.
Spatio built a VR Cryogenic Transfer Training Simulator, enabling operators across six countries to master complex transfer procedures through one globally standardized learning experience.
The simulator recreates realistic cryogenic transfer operations, allowing trainees to safely perform complex procedures in a fully immersive virtual environment. Operators progress through guided learning before advancing to scenario-based exercises that challenge their procedural knowledge, safety awareness, and decision-making under real-world operating conditions.
Built on a single global framework, the simulator supports multiple cryogenic products, tanker configurations, and country-specific operating procedures while maintaining a consistent training methodology. How Spatio Delivered It
Spatio collaborated closely with Linde’s subject matter experts to digitize complex cryogenic transfer procedures while preserving the confidentiality of proprietary operational processes. Built using Industry Standard Game Engine and deployed on Meta Quest headsets, the simulator was designed as a single global platform with built-in localization capabilities. The solution was successfully deployed across India, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, enabling every operator to train on the same framework while meeting local operational and regulatory requirements.
