The Challenge
Electrical hazards across industrial facilities can vary depending on the work environment, equipment, and surrounding conditions. Workers must recognize potential dangers, select appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and make safe decisions before proceeding with a task.
Traditional classroom instruction provides essential knowledge but offers limited opportunities to practise hazard identification in realistic environments. Live electrical safety exercises also present practical challenges when workers need repeated exposure to different risk scenarios without being exposed to actual danger.
Adani needed a scalable training approach that could improve hazard awareness, reinforce protective practices, and consistently evaluate how workers respond to changing electrical risks across multiple locations.
Spatio developed a hand-tracked VR Electrical Safety Training Simulator, enabling industrial workers to identify changing hazards, select protective measures, and demonstrate safer decisions in immersive environments.
The Simulator Experience
The simulator places trainees inside realistic industrial environments where they inspect their surroundings, identify electrical hazards, and determine the appropriate safety measures for each situation. Using hand tracking on Meta Quest 3, workers interact naturally with the virtual environment without relying on handheld controllers.
Multiple scenarios and adjustable difficulty levels expose trainees to varied electrical safety situations. An adaptive evaluation system introduces scenario variations across attempts, encouraging learners to apply their knowledge rather than memorize answers. Integrated LMS analytics capture assessment results and learning progress, helping training teams identify knowledge gaps and areas requiring further practice.
Key Features & Training Flow
Dynamic Hazard Identification
Workers explore industrial environments and identify electrical hazards that vary across locations, tasks, and assessment scenarios.
PPE Selection & Safety Decisions
Trainees select appropriate protective equipment and determine safe responses based on the hazards identified.
Hand-Tracked Interaction
Natural hand movements enable workers to interact with the virtual environment and engage directly with simulated safety scenarios.
Adaptive Scenario Evaluation
Adjustable difficulty and scenario variations challenge learners to demonstrate consistent hazard recognition across repeated assessment attempts.
Progressive Learning & Reassessment
Workers practise safety procedures, receive evaluation feedback, and repeat scenarios to strengthen understanding and decision-making.
LMS-Integrated Performance Analytics
Training data captures assessment results, progress, and recurring errors to support targeted reinforcement and performance monitoring.
How Spatio Delivered It
Spatio designed and deployed the electrical safety training experience using Meta Quest 3 and hand-tracking technology, creating interactive scenarios that reflect the changing nature of industrial electrical hazards. Multiple environments and adjustable evaluation conditions enable workers to practise identifying risks and selecting appropriate protective measures without exposure to live electrical danger.
The simulator was deployed across multiple sites as part of a broader immersive safety training programme. With LMS-connected analytics, training teams can review learner performance, identify recurring mistakes, and determine where additional instruction is needed. This approach supports consistent training delivery across locations while allowing workers to practise at their own pace.
