The Challenge
In highly regulated pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing, fire safety requires more than periodic awareness training. Laboratories, manufacturing areas, sensitive equipment, and the presence of flammable materials create complex risks, while compliance teams need clear evidence that employees across shifts and locations have been trained and assessed consistently.
With contract and temporary workers regularly joining the workforce, maintaining current certifications became an ongoing challenge. The client needed a scalable way to continuously train employees without pulling large groups away from operations, while keeping training records organized and readily available for audits.
Spatio deployed a continuous VR Fire Safety Training program across three manufacturing sites, combining immersive practice, competency assessment, and centralized compliance tracking.
The simulator immerses employees in realistic fire emergencies based on pharmaceutical laboratory and manufacturing environments. Trainees identify hazards, determine the fire type, select the appropriate extinguisher, and practise the PASS (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) technique before completing a standardized competency assessment.
Rather than treating fire safety as a one-time annual exercise, Spatio delivers recurring on-site training campaigns across all three locations. Assessment and certification data flow into the LMS, creating a centralized digital record that helps safety and compliance teams continuously monitor training status and workforce readiness.
