Wabtec’s project-driven manufacturing environment requires a workforce that changes constantly. New hires, contractors, and cross-functional teams must be trained on fire safety quickly, often without the time to schedule classroom sessions or depend on external trainers. The company needed a scalable solution that could deliver standardized, hands-on fire safety training on demand without interrupting production.
Spatio built a portable Fire Safety VR Training Simulator, enabling Wabtec to train, assess, and certify workers anytime without relying on external trainers.
The simulator immerses trainees in realistic industrial fire scenarios where they identify fire hazards, select the appropriate extinguisher, and perform the PASS (Pull, Aim, Squeeze, Sweep) technique in a safe virtual environment. Guided learning gradually transitions into assessment-driven scenarios, allowing workers to build confidence before responding independently.
Delivered as a portable VR kit, the solution can be deployed anywhere within the facility in minutes. Every assessment is automatically recorded through the integrated LMS, giving supervisors complete visibility into workforce readiness, certification status, and training performance.

Built using Industry standard game engines and deployed on a portable Meta Quest-based VR kit, the simulator was handed over for complete in-house operation.
