VR Training for Shipyards: Building a Safer, More Ready Workforce

For the last two years, we at Spatio have been building immersive VR training solutions for the shipbuilding industry.

Shipyards are a world of their own. Every job is a mega-structure in motion.

A single vessel brings together power systems, high-heat work, electrical networks, water utilities, HVAC, and complex navigation and propulsion systems. In many ways, it is a city of steel that moves.

That is what makes shipbuilding so impressive. And that is also what makes it unforgiving.

The work is demanding. The risks are real. Yet serious injuries and fatalities continue to be recorded globally across shipbuilding and repair operations year after year. This should never be accepted as the cost of doing the job.

Over the last 24 months, we partnered with a leading Middle East based dry docks company to change how safety training is delivered. Together, we built more than 10 VR training modules focused on real shipyard risks and real operations, designed around how work actually happens on the ground.

At the same time, geopolitics is reshaping global trade and energy movement. Demand for new vessels, repairs, and retrofits is accelerating. Shipyards are entering what may be their most important decade yet.

In this decade, training and manpower readiness will define who scales safely and who does not.

We are excited to deepen our work with shipyards that view safety, skill, and preparedness as a strategic advantage, not a checkbox.

If you lead safety, operations, or training at a shipyard and want to explore VR training built around your real risks and SOPs, we are open to a conversation.
